Printable Canada Vegetable Garden Planner PDF | By Province

Raised wooden vegetable garden bed with peppers and tomatoes

The question that matters most in a Canadian garden isn't "when do I plant" — it's "will it finish in time?" Vancouver and Calgary can be two months apart in growing season, so a planner built around provinces or a single national date doesn't hold up. The Canada Vegetable Garden Planner is organized by season length instead.

Built around season length, not the map

Rather than a province-by-province list, the planner sorts the whole year into three season-length bands — Long, Medium and Short — because that's what actually decides whether a crop has time to mature, not which province you're in. Every timing is checked against Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada data and given relative to your own last frost, with indoor seed-starting schedules counted backwards from that date.

What's inside (70 printable pages)

  • Timing organized by season length — Long, Medium and Short — not by province
  • Indoor seed-starting schedules counted backwards from your own last frost
  • A season-extension planner for row cover, mulch and cold frames
  • Bed layout pages and a four-year crop rotation planner
  • 20 crop growing guides checked against Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada data
  • Seed inventory, sowing log and harvest tracker

Instant PDF download, metric units throughout, and every page is yours to reprint each season at no extra cost.

How to use it

Start with your own last spring frost date and your typical frost-free window, then find your band: Long, Medium or Short season. That tells you which crops will realistically finish before your first fall frost, and the season-extension pages show what row cover, mulch or a cold frame can add if a crop is borderline. From there, the bed layout and four-year rotation planner take over for the rest of the season.

Free vs. paid: what's actually different

The free Garden Layout Planner sketches your plot and works out bed layout and spacing — that stays free. This printable planner adds the season-length planting calendar itself, the season-extension planner, the four-year rotation plan, and the seed inventory, sowing log and harvest tracker: the parts you fill in by hand, season after season.
