Allium moly, also called golden garlic or lily leek, is native to a range stretching from eastern Spain to Italy and parts of North Africa. Low-growing and clump-forming, it adapts well to borders, rockeries and woodland clearings, where it naturalises easily. Thrives in a Mediterranean-type climate of dry, hot summers and wet, mild winters.

Hardiness H6 (hardy in all of UK and northern Europe, -20 to -15C). Full sun; south or west-facing aspect. Soil: chalk, loam or sand; moist but well-drained or well-drained; pH acid/alkaline/neutral.
