Thrives in heat, tolerates drought (though prolonged drought reduces fruit quality). Full sun (6+ hrs). Soil pH acid (<6.0) to alkaline (>8.0), clay/loam/sand/high organic matter, rich moist well-drained. Spacing 12in-3ft. Height 1-2.5ft, width 1-2ft. Start seedlings indoors, transplant at 55F+ nights. Common pests: aphids, whiteflies, cutworms, pepper maggots, Colorado potato beetles. Diseases: Verticillium wilt, mosaic virus (unspecified strain). Fruit is a non-pulpy berry with high capsaicin content, harvested summer and fall in gold, yellow, orange, purple, red or white.
