Shungiku, or crown daisy, is an annual with edible leaves, and the RHS profile keeps its needs simple.

  • It will grow in ordinary garden soil but prefers a well-drained sandy soil in full sun. (RHS)
  • Propagate by seed sown in spring. (RHS)
  • The genus is erect annuals with finely dissected leaves and daisy-like flower heads in spring and summer; it is generally free of pests and diseases. (RHS)
